We’re excited to announce that Metrica Sports, together with Talent Arena and Barça Innovation Hub, is launching the Football GPT Bootcamp — a pioneering challenge that brings together Generative AI, real match data, and technical innovation to transform football analytics and tactical understanding.
This initiative invites professionals in data analysis, data science, software development, prompt engineering, and tech enthusiasts to build solutions powered by large language models (LLMs) applied to real performance, tracking, and event data from professional football matches.
🔎 What is the Football GPT Bootcamp?
The Football GPT Bootcamp challenges participants to develop insights and tools that enhance tactical understanding and analytical processes in professional football.
Participants will work with authentic, high-value football datasets, provided by FC Barcelona and Metrica Sports, including:
Automatic event data encoded in XML (Smart Tagging) generated by Metrica Sports
Broadcast video recordings of professional matches
Automatic tracking data (ATD) generated by Metrica Sports
A curated dataset of 20 professional matches under realistic analytical conditions
Specialized technical mentoring throughout the process
Teams will collaborate remotely and present their final solutions during the onsite event at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.
