Automatic Player Tracking

Automatic Player Tracking

Automatically track your visualizations to follow players as they move across the screen—perfect for dynamic analysis.

In fast-paced sports footage, players are always on the move. With Automatic Player Tracking, you can make your visualizations follow the action without having to adjust them frame by frame.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to track visuals to player movement using one click—saving time and making your analysis more dynamic.

What Is Automatic Player Tracking?

This feature lets you attach any visualization (like a spotlight or tag) to a player, and it will automatically follow their movement across the screen.

Available in specific PlayBase plans, it works using computer vision to detect player motion and apply tracking in real time.

How to Use It

  1. Add your visual (e.g. spotlight or tag) to a clip in the Annotations Module

  2. Click on the visual

  3. In the toolbar, click the Automatic Tracking button

  4. The software will begin tracking the player as they move

  5. Press Stop when you’re done

The timeline will show a colored bar representing the tracked duration.

Why Use It?

  • Speeds up the telestration process

  • Keeps visuals locked to moving players

  • Looks smooth and professional in presentations

  • Works well with effects like spotlights, speed tags and rings

Pro Tip

Use it together with Chroma Key to keep visuals under players, or combine with Speed data if pitch calibration is active.

👉 If your plan doesn’t include this feature, don’t worry—next up, we’ll show you how to do it manually in Manual Player Tracking.
