Use the CodePad to create a visual, customizable interface for tagging events—perfect for live games or touchscreen workflows.
If you prefer a more visual or click-based workflow over keyboard shortcuts, the CodePad is for you.
In this video, you’ll learn how to create and use the CodePad in PlayBase to tag events using a customizable panel of buttons—ideal for live matches, touchscreen devices, or simplified tagging environments.
What is the CodePad?
The CodePad is a customizable, touch-friendly interface that lets you:
Tag events by clicking buttons
Use pre-defined codes from your Code Table
Add extra information like tags, colors and categories
Work during live or post-game analysis
It’s an excellent option for coaches or analysts who prefer tapping buttons instead of using keyboard shortcuts.
How to Use It
Open your Video Project
Create or load a Coding File
Activate the CodePad via the toolbar
Buttons for each code will appear automatically based on your Code Table setup
Click a button to record or save an event during video playback
You can also customize the layout, button size and groupings based on your preferences.
Add Tags While Coding
The CodePad allows you to add metadata to your events in real time. For example:

These tags help you organize and filter clips later in your workflow.
