Getting Started
Learn how to code events live during a match using PlayBase’s Live Mode. Tag and record real-time insights for post-match review.
PlayBase isn’t just for post-match analysis—it also lets you tag events in real time during a live game.
In this video, you’ll learn how to use Live Mode to code a match as it happens, and how to link your tags with the full game video afterward.
What is Live Mode?
Live Mode allows you to:
Start a coding session while the match is being played or recorded
Use the Code Table or CodePad to tag events in real time
Save those tags to a Coding File
Link the tags to the full match video later, once the recording is available
It’s perfect for live scouting, in-game tactical observations, and half-time or post-match reviews.
How to Use Live Mode
Open or create a Video Project
Load or create a Coding File
Turn Live Mode ON
The recording panel will appear
Click Start Recording to begin coding live
Use your Code Table or CodePad to tag events during the match
When the game ends, click Stop Recording
Your tags are saved and ready to be synced with the actual video file.
Link Your Live Tags with Video
After the match:
Return to your Video Project
Import the full match video
Use the Sync Manager to align your tagged events with the recorded video (covered in a later tutorial)
Once synced, your live-coded events become fully functional within the PlayBase timeline, just like post-game tags.
Best Use Cases
Matchday coaching and analysis
Real-time observations for tactical adjustments
Quick turnaround for post-game reports
