Getting Started
Already using another tagging tool? Learn how to import XML files into PlayBase to view and edit event data inside your video projects.
If you’ve used another tagging or analysis tool and have an XML file with your event data, PlayBase allows you to import it and continue your workflow without starting from scratch.
In this video, you’ll learn how to bring XML event data into a PlayBase project and how to view and interact with those events on the timeline.
Why Import XML?
PlayBase is compatible with data from other platforms. If your workflow includes software that exports XML (like Nacsport, LongoMatch, or manual spreadsheets), you can easily import that data and work with it inside your PlayBase environment.
This is useful when:
You want to switch to PlayBase without losing existing tags
You collaborate with other teams using different tools
You receive pre-tagged matches from external sources
How to Import XML
Open your Video Project
In the Video Manager, look for the Import XML option
Select your XML file from your computer
PlayBase will parse the file and add the event data to your timeline
Each tagged event will appear as a bar in the timeline
Clicking on a bar will show you the associated clips and metadata.
Working With Imported Events
Once the XML is loaded, you can:
Play and preview each tagged event
Trim, reassign, or re-label clips
Save events to playlists
Add visualizations, drawings, or overlays just like native PlayBase events
Pro Tip
If the timestamps in your XML don’t align with your video, use the Sync Manager to synchronize them accurately (see next tutorial).
