Trim Clips

Trim Clips

Learn how to shorten your video clips in PlayBase using simple trimming tools to create focused, impactful analysis.

After importing short clips or cutting them from a full video, you may want to adjust their length. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to trim clips directly within PlayBase to remove unnecessary parts and focus your analysis.

Why Trim Clips?

Trimming helps to:

  • Remove irrelevant seconds before or after the action

  • Make clips shorter and easier to watch

  • Improve flow and clarity when presenting to players or staff

Shorter clips also load faster and perform better during telestration and export.

How to Trim a Clip

  1. Go to your Playlist and select a clip

  2. In the video timeline, locate the in-point and out-point handlebars

  3. Drag the handlebars to adjust the start and end of the clip

  4. The duration updates in real time so you can preview your changes

Clips can be trimmed at any time—even after adding tags or visualizations.

Best Practices

  • Keep clips under 2 minutes for best performance

  • Trim only what’s unnecessary—context is still important

  • Always preview the clip before finalizing the trim

Trimming is non-destructive. You can always go back and re-expand the clip if needed.

Pro Tip

You can trim multiple clips in a playlist individually. This is useful when preparing a final presentation or export.
