Sync Events with Video

Sync Events with Video

Use the Sync Manager to perfectly align external XML events with your video timeline for seamless analysis in PlayBase.

When importing XML data into PlayBase, you may notice that the timestamps in the file don’t match the timing of your video. That’s where the Sync Manager comes in.

In this video, you’ll learn how to use the Sync Manager to align imported events—so your timeline, video, and event data work in perfect harmony.

What is the Sync Manager?

The Sync Manager allows you to adjust the timing of XML-tagged events so they match the video playback. It’s an essential tool when:

  • Your XML was created using a different system

  • The recording started late or early

  • The timecodes in the video don’t align with your event data

How to Use It

  1. Open your Video Project

  2. Import the XML file (if not already done)

  3. Click on the Sync Manager

  4. Choose the event(s) you want to sync

  5. Play the video and find the correct real-time moment that matches the event

  6. If needed, add a cut using the razor tool and delete the excess part of the file

  7. Use the tools provided to shift the event timing until it aligns correctly

You can sync one event or adjust multiple events using offsets.

Tips for Accurate Syncing

  • Choose highly visible actions (e.g., kickoff, a goal, or a substitution) to match the timing.

  • Use playback controls and the timeline to locate the real moment in the video.

  • Once synced, PlayBase will apply the timing correction across all related events.

Why It Matters

Without syncing, your XML events may be out of place—leading to confusion and wasted time. With the Sync Manager, you ensure:

  • Your data is accurate

  • Your playlists are relevant

  • Your workflow remains professional
