Field Tracking

Field Tracking calibrates the pitch so that visuals like distance lines, speed indicators, or offside lines are correctly positioned. It’s essential for spatially accurate telestration.

Why it’s important

Field tracking allows Nexus to understand the perspective and dimensions of the pitch. This is what enables accurate overlays like speed arrows, field zones, and positional data visuals.

Two ways to track the field

You can choose between Automatic Field Tracking and Manual Field Tracking, depending on the quality of your video and visibility of pitch lines.

• Automatic: Click on the Field Tracking menu and choose “Process.” It’s fast and accurate when white lines are clear.

• Manual: Select at least 4 reference points manually and press “Process.” You can verify accuracy using the shortcut I to show field tracking hints.

Use Improve to correct any misaligned frames if needed.

Tip

For best results, use high-quality footage from a central camera angle with visible white lines.

Next Step

Choose between Automatic or Manual Field Tracking depending on your video and proceed to complete the calibration.
